Workshop with Cinematographer Balthazar Hertel:
Moving Bodies, Moving Camera

This workshop explores the physical interaction between performer and camera, with a focus on the dynamics of movement and choreography for long, continuous shots.
Led by cinematographer Balthazar Hertel, in collaboration with choreographers Kasper Ravnhøj and Kiki Selioni, the workshop will immerse participants in the creation of extended one-shot scenes.

Students will work with architecture, props, and natural landscapes to construct long physical sequences blending elements of stunts, physical theatre, and realism.
Central to the workshop is the idea that the camera is not just an observer – it becomes a performer itself.
The camera moves like a dancer, and the choreography must include its presence.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with the technical aspects of a moving camera, learning how to interact with it and how to shape the physical space around it.
Together with Ravnhøj, students will choreograph and perform long one-shot scenes specifically designed for camera, which stunt students can keep and use for personal or professional purposes later on.

This is an invitation to explore the delicate balance between giving space and taking space, treating the camera as an integral partner in performance.
